Mon travail part de la dislocation culturelle entre l’Europe occidentale et l’Europe de l’est, et en particulier la République Tchèque qui est mon pays d’origine. Ma démarche consiste à combiner différents médias : peinture, animation, dessins et installations, afin que le quotidien et le personnel se superposent à des symboles universels et à des questions de société. Je tente ainsi de me situer en tant qu’individu et créateur, et engage le spectateur dans une réflexion sur le « sens de soi ».
Mon travail insiste sur la question de la communication, et privilégie l’immédiateté dans la transformation de l’image mentale et de la mémoire en image visible. C’est pourquoi je privilégie la technique du dessin, comme base de réflexion et de développement créatif. Grâce aux installations, mes dessins investissent l’espace. Ils acquièrent des qualités sculpturales en entrant en relation les uns avec les autres, ou bien ils sont combinés à des animations, et participent à l’espace de projection.
Mes films d’animation mêlent des techniques traditionnelles comme « stop motion », des dessins, des peintures, des collages sur des supports variés, ce qui leur confère une matérialité. La simplicité des techniques utilisées me permet de mieux saisir l’idée originelle dans cette spontanéité qui m’est chère. J’oriente ainsi mon travail à l’opposé du perfectionnisme, qui réduit ou supprime l’effort créatif.
Les expérimentations qui sont à l’origine de mes productions se retrouvent donc de façon évidente dans des œuvres mixtes, à l’image du quotidien. L’impression d’inachèvement qui résulte de la rapidité d’exécution invite le public à adopter un regard actif qui l’entraîne dans le cheminement créateur.
Il s’agit donc d’explorer, pour moi comme pour le spectateur, la diversité de la création et de la vie quotidienne, en croisant des expériences variées et personnelles.
